BRIEF DESCRIPTION: A multi-modal approach which addresses the physical and neurobiological aspects of addiction in addition to the emotional and psychological has been shown to be the most effective method of treating addiction.  This workshop will address the underlying neurobiological etiology and mechanics of addiction. Participants will gain a greater understanding of the neurobiological considerations that must be taken into account when treating clients with addiction(s) for maximum success.

In addition, attendees will be taught to more fully question and explore the diagnoses previously given to their “co-occurring” clients.  They will gain an understanding of the neurobiological and physical changes occurring within the addicted client which can often mimic common primary psychiatric and medical diagnoses, and thus result in misdiagnosis and direction for treatment.
