Join Dr. David Williams as we explore together a wide variety of medications that affect sexual functioning. This elective will look at substances, both prescribed and not, that play a role in sexual functioning along with medication effects on hormone levels. We will then look at medications that can be used to enhance and aid in sexual functioning.
Dr. Williams started
his training at Grove City College where he obtained a Bachelors in Music
Education. He taught music for 6 years in a partial hospital
setting. During that time, he obtained an Associates degree in Nursing
from Community College of Allegheny County. After obtaining his Nursing
license, he worked in an emergency department. While practicing emergency
nursing, he obtained a Bachelors in Nursing from Waynesburg University, and
then completed a Masters in Nursing Education from Chatham University. He
has taught nursing part time for University of Pittsburgh, Duquesne University,
Robert Morris University, and Community College of Allegheny County. Dr. Williams
then went on to complete a second Masters in Nursing along with a Doctorate of
Nursing Practice from Robert Morris University. He is dually licensed as
a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and a Family Nurse
Practitioner. Currently, he is practicing at UPMC Children’s Community
Pediatrics and Pressley Ridge Family Counseling Center managing medical and
psychiatric needs of children and adolescents. Dr. Williams is a graduate of
the Sex Therapy Training Institute (STTI), Board Certified in Clinical Sexology,
and is on the faculty of the International Institute of Clinical Sexology and
STTI.

Identify recommendations of medications to help stop sexual side effects of prescribed medications.
Identify medications that can enhance and aid in sexual functioning.
