Victims and Victimology

Objectives

This class is designed to teach students to:

  1. Define the terms related to victims and victimology.

  2. Describe the role of a victimologist.

  3. Recognize types of victims and issues specific to type.

  4. Discuss bias towards victims and victim-blaming.

  5. Recognize issues between victims and the criminal justice system.

  6. Identify symptoms of Stockholm Syndrome.

  7. Define and describe the process of restorative justice.

  8. Utilize a variety of interventions appropriate to types of victims.

  9. Describe a victim’s experience of a crime.

  10. Describe a victim’s experience with family, friends, and law enforcement.

  11. Compile a list of resources for victims.
