12 hour Qualified Supervisor Training

This 12-hour CE course meets the requirements for Florida Rule 64B4-6.0025 F.A.C. for Supervisory Training. All of the learning objectives specified by the Rule will be fulfilled. This is a comprehensive training for licensed clinicians in Florida and elsewhere who want to supervise interns and/or other therapists. Supervising interns carries specific ethical and legal responsibilities for which this workshop will prepare the participants. This workshop is offered via live webinar with full interaction with presenter and other attendees.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this 12-hour course, participants will be able to:

  1. Define the role of evaluation in supervision.
  2. Practice supervision in accordance with ethical standards of the Florida Boards.
  3. Define the term “Respondeat Superior.”
  4. Differentiate between the legal and ethical issues in supervision.
  5. Develop a supervisory contract.
  6. Define the gate-keeping aspect of supervision and make a decision to accept (or not) this responsibility.
  7. List and describe the major models of supervision for clinical social work, marriage and family therapy or mental health counseling.
  8. Develop and apply skills to develop a personal model of supervision, drawn from existing models of supervision and from preferred styles of therapy.
  9. Describe the co-evolving dynamics of therapist-client and supervisor-therapist-client relationships.
  10. Recognize distinctive issues that arise in supervision.
  11. Incorporate the contextual variables in practice such as culture, gender, ethnicity, power and economics into the supervisory relationship.
  12. Describe the ethical, legal and regulatory issues of supervision.
  13. Assess evaluation tools in supervision.
  14. Differentiate between Administrative Supervision, Counseling, and Clinical Supervision.
  15. Effectively prepare for supervision.
  16. Describe various methods for supervision.
  17. Utilize a variety of instruments and questionnaires for evaluation in supervision.
  18. Practice and implement techniques for supervision.
