Students will explore the history of sexuality-focused research and the impact many of these studies continue to have on society. Contributions of Galen, Falloppio, Jean Baptiste Parent-Duchatelet, Richard von Krafft-Ebing, Magnus Hershfeld, Henry Havelock Ellis, Sigmund Freud, Alfred Kinsey, Masters and Johnson and others will be discussed.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify at least three characteristics of good quality research studies.
  • Describe how findings can be employed to initiate and support positive or negative changes in society.
  • Recognize how sexual research has evolved over the years, starting from 2nd century observational studies through  present day.
  • Identify major historical sex researchers and their positive and negative contributions to sexual perspectives in society.
